A diminutive form of our native Oregon White or Garry oak. Can be found on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada north to the southern Cascades and Siskiyous of CA and OR. Variable in size but normally forming small groves, even thickets, anywhere from 4-10' in height and getting there very slowly. The leaves are somewhat more lobed than typical, smaller only to 2-3" and often produce handsome fall color. Withstands and prefers summer drought after establishment watering. Lean soil, good drainage and dappled to full sun. Collected on serpentine soils in Josephine County OR. USDA zone 6 if not colder, we love you. OREGON WHITE OAK Fagaceae
