Stately tall shrub, even small tree, to 8-10ft with large glossy leaves and, from late fall through February, drooping bell-like flowers of such deep orange-red as to almost appear black. Backlit in winter sun, they positively glow -- magic indeed! We have ours planted with an assortment of black hellebores and Chaenomeles japonica 'Atsuya Hamada'.
