Located in the Gedeo Zone, Kochere is bordered on the east by Gedeb, southwest by Oromia and to the north by the coffee famous Yirgacheffe. The town of Chelelektu is amongst the highest altitudes in this region who has developed a reputation for exceptional coffees and producing some of the most sought after microlots. The combination of high altitude, fertile soil, consistent and plentiful rains and an abundance of local knowledge are all contributing factors to the high status of Yirgacheffe coffees.
