This well-designed two-piece unit consisted of an alcohol burner encapsulated inside a metal fold out container. It enabled a U.S. Veterinarian officer in the U.S. Cavalry, which was mostly disbanded by 1940, a practical way to sterilize a needle prior to suturing a horse out in the field. The needles were conveniently stored in the round tray attached to the inside top portion of the container, directly beneath the lid, which can snap firmly shut with a distinct click. Stamped USA MD (U.S. Army Medical Department) on the base of the container.Measures: 2 5/8" h X 1 3/4" w X 1" deepContainer only. Two conditions available:Grade I: Brand new and spotless $28.Grade II: Possibly Used and scratched from years in storage: $18.
