After about a year of use, a sealant should be reapplied. Appropriate products for stone protection and care can be purchased from home improvement stores. Always protect the surface with coasters, trivets, and placements. Avoid contact with alcohol, citrus juices, and other acidic foods, as they will etch or dull the surface. Wipe up spills immediately to prevent absorption and permanent marks. Place it behind a sofa or near a window, in a narrow hallway or beside the entry.
