ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Emily Metauten (also known as Herminia Blue) is a legally blind fine artist & hair and makeup artist from Queens, NY. Her acrylic and watercolor paintings offer a glimpse into how she views the world, both through her physical eyes and through the unique perspective she has developed from having both visible and non-visible disabilities. Her vision loss is caused by Stargardt's Disease, a recessive-genetic form of Macular Degeneration. Ever since she was a young child, Emily has also struggled with mental illness, and has always used art as a tool to express her dark and heavy emotions.
