I made two identical totes from some leather that I use for chaps. They're 2-3 oz. buckskin color leather that wears beautifully with time and use. They measure roughly 13 x 17" with two 6 x 9" pockets and a 12" drop on the harness leather straps. I stitched a longhorn and a boot toe bug on the pockets plus a gunslinger stitch around the top of the bag.
