Height in the Garden: Up to 5' Attributes: Spreading, deciduous shrub with excellent autumn foliage and beautiful, fragrant, spring flowers. Notes: This species makes a wonderful, little accent plant or even bonsai. It gradually spreads by rhizome and can create a self contained forest. The flowers are fantastic addition in the spring. It is well known and loved in the southeast United States as a tough, garden shrub well suited to wet and dark places as well as full exposures.
