Butterworts (Pinguicula spp.) are carnivorous! They secrete a sticky mucilage from their leaves that traps small insects like fungus gnats and mosquitoes. This mucilage can give the leaves an oily appearance and feel, shedding some light on the genus name which translates to "little oily one." The flowers on Pinguicula spp. are orchid-like and can last for weeks! These plants are very easy to care for and are beginner friendly. For detailed care information, click here. A care sheet will also be sent with each purchase.  Pinguicula emarginata x juamavensis is a small hybrid, not often exceeding 2 inches in diameter, known for its robust growth and ability to form small colonies given the proper time and care.  Carnivorous plants are pet safe, so no worries here! These plants are much more dangerous to insects. Plants will be shipped bare root and are suitable for a 2 to 3 inch pot. Photos are representative and some natural variation should be expected.
