Pineapple (Ananas cosmosus)

Yes, this is an edible pineapple! Pineapples are the only edible bromeliad, and the only bromeliad to bear fruit in this unique style. To keep your pineapple happy, place it in an area where it will receive bright to moderate light and water when the soil is about 75% dry. Harvest the fruit when the skin turns bright yellow for a sweet and juicy experience! The original plant will not make another pineapple, but will make a pup, a small plant offshoot from the roots. As this pup matures, it will eventually flower and produce fruit, if pollinated!  Pineapples, like other members of the bromeliad family, are pet safe, so no worries here! The leaves do have the potential to develop firm spines, making them unsafe for reptile enclosures.  Plants have fruit, will be shipped bare root, and are suitable for 6 inch pots.
