Pacific Cod
Catch 49's Jig-Caught Cod is harvested each spring in the Gulf of Alaska off Kodiak Island by the Carpenter Family of the F/V Fish Tale. Our Jig-Caught Cod are hand-tended using the jig method, one of the most efficient and artisanal ways of catching this delicious species. Harvest of this species is possible because of a set-aside in the Pacific cod fishery for the low-impact, entry-level jig sector. Short trips, live immersion bleeding, and immediate chilling of the catch are just a few of the things our fishermen do to deliver on the promise of exceptional quality.
