"Spring Break," original painting, diptych, 36" x 48"

allSpring is a time of rebirth and renewal. We emerge from the dormancy of winter, and the cycle of life begins once again. The layered greens of this painting evoke a spring time feel of luscious new growth and energy. Plants rise up from the ground and reach for the returning light of the sun. The "Gaia" paintings developed out of an accident of spilled paint on the floor. I noticed the beautiful patterns in the puddle, and didn't want the paint to go to waste. I pushed a canvas into the wet paint, and discovered a whole new world of amazing patterns and designs. Since that epiphany, I have developed these paintings through the use of precise pull techniques and surfactants added to the paint. I continue to be amazed by the variety of art I can create this way, and each painting is completely unique and surprising.
