"Grandmother's Garden," original painting, 36" x 24"

The "Minimalist" paintings are works of art created to provide a soothing and comforting presence during tumultuous times. The texture and depth of this work is created by first layering marks using many different colors. I sand though the layers and harmonize the piece using several layers of glaze. Then I add surface detail to complete the painting. When you see these paintings in person, they have a rich patina and intensity, but they're also quiet, meditative and contemplative. They're subtle yet intriguing. They invite the viewer to move in close to see the detail. These are paintings that soothe an overstimulated nervous system. They’re calm and serene.
