"Crosshatch," original art, 48" x 36"
The rich iron oxide patina of this piece is created using rusty metal placed on wet canvas to create interesting marks. Iron is a grounding element, and the very core of our planet is composed of molten iron. The rebar art keeps us connected to the Earth plane, has a grounding influence, and evokes a sense of safety, security, stability and well-being. Rebar is a steel building material used to reinforce concrete. I place the rebar rods on wet canvas and allow them to rust. Developed in layers, the rebar is used to build an intricate web of interlaced lines creating a beautiful patina of texture and depth. Sustainability is an important part of my artistic practice, and this piece was created using natural materials -- iron oxide on cotton canvas. 48" x 36" original painting iron oxide on canvas gallery wrap canvas, 1-1/2 inches deep with painted sides signed by the artist on the back wired and ready to hang FedEx shipping within the US contact me for an international shipping quote
