While working in Korea, Barry Yinger heard about Camellias growing on islands near the border of North and South Korea. He thought these could be very cold-hardy and collected specimens which were distributed and tested. Mr. Yinger made this selection at his garden in central Pennsylvania after temperatures dropped to -23F. The single flowers are red and bloom early in the season.
