Almost Uncirculated James II Great Britain sterling silver groat or 4 pence coin.  Extremely rare date engraving Mint Error variety with 1 engraved over 8. Die sinker started the 8 in the wrong place and then corrected it by engraving the 1 over the 8.  Certified by NGC to AU 55, Population census: this coin, none higher (PCGS 0/0)! Finest Known! Colorfully toned with underlying luster. Bull English Silver Coinage 790, rated as R3 = Extremely Rare. James would loose the throne in 1689 during the "GLORIOUS REVOLUTION", with William and Mary as dual monarchs.  Type of money used in American Colonies.
