During the bulk stage, the charger uses its full amp output to do the heaviest charging, quickly bringing your battery to about 75% of capacity. In the absorption stage, the current slows, adjusting for maximum charging efficiency while it gently tops off the battery to about 98% of capacity. During the maintenance stage, a lower, closely-regulated, constant voltage is applied to maintain full charge and prevent discharge.
