His two hands raised upright, palms facing outwards in Abhaya Mudra known as the sea-calming protective gesture. The Buddha is ornamented with armbands, bracelets and anklets, and richly gilded in a king's garments, numerous small flames rise from the four-tiers pedestal, with flickering tiny mirrors highlighting his fiery energy and bliss up the center of the robe and crown; a small flame tip at the left shoulder is chipped. Note that the opulent imperial style Buddha was established by the 10th Century King Ramathibodi I of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, which lasted until it was overtaken by Burma in the 18th Century. By this time the Buddha image in Thailand was distinguished by the flame on the headdress and the many levels of flaming base, the king
