This illuminating copper gilt bronze Akshobhya is a well-cast statue with Tibetan elements and Katmandu Buddhist art traditions; he is seated in dhyanasana on a lotus throne, wearing a traditional sanghati with patches of finely embossed floral motifs, his right hand in bhumisparsa mudra, left in dhyana holding a medicine bowl, his face shown in serene, contemplative expression, with downcast almond-shaped eyes and incised eyelids, straight nose, a gentle smile on bow-shaped lips, the hair finely arranged in rows of tiny curls on a domed unisa.
