This is a dwarf species native to Venezuela, Guyana, and the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Although spiderlings start very small, they are fast-growing and quick to mature. This species is a favorite within the tarantula-keeping hobby due to its small size, docile nature, and attractive looks. Many of the species in the genus have heart-shaped patterning on the opisthosoma, earning them the nickname ‘heart-butt tarantula.’ These slings are over 6 months old and are currently feeding on red runner nymphs or pinhead crickets.
