Tillandsia ionantha 'Rubra'

Tillandsia ionantha 'Rubra' is a form of Tillandsia ionantha from Guatemala that is one of the most favored forms of ionantha in cultivation. The 'Rubra' form is very popular due to the fact that it is one of the most intense red colored of the ionantha cultivars. T. ionantha is a very attractive smaller species that is a little larger than the most common cultivars, averaging 1 1/2" - 2"  tall at maturity. Normally red to green with grey scales while in its normal growing period, it will turn a very bright red when it blooms.
