An archival premium quality art print of the Golden-Winged Woodpecker as drawn by John James Audubon for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artwork was for his ornithology book The Birds of America. This woodpecker was picture or plate number 37 in the 1st Havell edition of the book. The painting shows a group of five very colorful birds roosting in a tree with one of them having a worm in its beak. Audubon says the following about the Golden-Winged Woodpecker "This species, which is usually called Pique-bois jaune by the French settlers in Louisiana, and receives the name of High-holder, Yucker, and Flicker in other parts of the Union, being seldom or never graced with the epithet Golden-winged, employed by naturalists, is one of the most lively of our birds, and is found over the whole of the United States.
