Willow-Leaf ficus, aka Narrow-Leaf ficus and F. nerifolia, is a tropical fig species that is commonly used for bonsai due to its small leaf and excellent growth characteristics. These trees create new branches at any cut point, making them very reliable to train as bonsai. They also make impressive root displays, sometimes exceeding the size of an appropriate pot! Native to Southeast Asia, they are a tropical fig species. They do well in hot and humid climates, but they must be protected from freezing temperatures, and really do best when kept above 50F.  You can grow them outdoors during warm months and indoors in a brightly lit location during cold weather, just don't let them freeze!
