Acer saccharum Sugar maple is a native deciduous tree and is a main component of most hardwood production forests in the eastern part of the country. Its a long-living tree, but is typically slower growing that most other maples. Sugar maple has been used for centuries in the US for maple syrup production. It's leaves provide a fabulous show in the fall, and this tree is responsible for much of the bold fall colors seen in New England in the fall. The leaf is the national symbol of Canada. Excellent shade tree. Sugar maple grows to between 40 and 80 feet tall, and 30-60 feet wide. Great when used as a shade/canopy tree, or to line streets in lower-traffic areas. Arrives to you in a gallon-sized pot, approximately 1-3' tall.
