Rudbeckia subtomentosa ‘Henry Eilers’ typically grows to 3-5’ tall on stiff, upright, leafy stems. Its buttery-yellow rays are rolled instead of flat, giving the flower a quilled effect, with dome-shaped brown center disks. Flowers bloom in clusters atop strong, sometimes-branching stems from July until first frost. Flowers have a mild aroma of anise and their leaves have a slightly sweet vanilla scent, hence the common name- Sweet Coneflower. 'Henry Eilers' are excellent back-of-the-border plants. They are quite eye catching, and attractive to butterflies. Works perfectly for cut flower arrangements. Pairs well with ornamental grasses, thistle, and asters. Arrives to you in a one-gallon pot.
