  Pre-order now for delivery in April-May! Pulmonaria x 'Twinkle Toes' Pulmonaria are a group of about 17 species of herbaceous perennials that are native to parts of Europe and Asia. They are commonly called Lungwort. Lungworts are shade perennials that, like hosta, are often grown and prized for their attractive spotted foliage, instead of their pasted flowers that appear in early spring. Genus name comes from the Latin pulmo meaning lung. In accordance with the Doctrine of Signatures, lungwort was once believed by Medieval herbalists to be an effective remedy for treating lung diseases because the spotted plant leaves purportedly resembled diseased lungs. However, it is well established today that this is not a valid method in determining a plant's medicinal properties. 'Twinkle Toes' is noted for its combination of green leaves with silver spots and its mounding habit. Drooping clusters (terminal cymes) of funnel-shaped, pale blue/purple flowers bloom on short stalks just above the foliage in spring. Flower buds are pink before opening to light blue.  Plant in organically rich soil in a part shade or full shade area. Mature plants grow to 12-14" tall and 16-18" wide.
