Lonicera 'John Clayton'

Lonicera sempervirens 'John Clayton' 'John Clayton' is a semi-evergreen twining perennial honeysuckle vine. Gorgeous creamy-yellow tubular flowers open with orange throats on top of blue-green rounded leaves. This vigorous growing can reach heights of up to 8-12 feet! Blooms arrive from early summer to fall and give way to small bright red berries.  Plant in partial shade for best results, but will tolerate full sun. Well-drained, moist, hummus-rich soil is preferred. Hummingbirds love the tubular flowers! This low maintenance vine does not have fragrant flowers like other honeysuckle varieties, but it more than makes up for that with its gorgeous blooms. Prune in late winter or early spring. An excellent choice for growing on trellises, pergolas and fences. Other companions for the garden include Clematis and Hops, which are also twining vines.  Arrives to you in a gallon-sized container with a trellis.
