Jacob Swanson, Research Associate (Wong Laboratory), Department of Dermatology, University of Michigan Medical School Skin cysts are unsightly and can be very painful. This is an image of a skin cyst in a mutant mouse. We are trying to understand how these cysts form and persist, so that one day we might find a way to selectively eliminate similar cysts in people. In this image, the green color marks the protein, loricrin, which is a marker of mature skin cells. Red is keratin 14, a marker of the stem cells of the skin. Cell nuclei are stained blue. 17-085
