Scientific Name: Neocaridina. DavidiCommon Name: Black Rose Shrimp, Black ShrimpFully Grown Size: 1.6 inches (4cm) Black Rose Shrimps are dark black shrimps. Their shiny black shell reminds me of dark knights. Some people may confuse them with chocolate but genetically they are different. There isn’t really a grading for black roses because they are all black. They may differ in different shades of black but are mostly dark.Black Rose comes from the Neocaridina Davidi Line and has been selectively bred to get its black color. Although there are multiple colors of neocaridina in the same line, it is not recommended to mix them to keep the genes to be the purist it can be. If you do however mix the colors, you will most likely end up with wild brown colored offsprings. Black Rose like all neocaridinas are slightly harder to sex until they mature. Once they mature, the female will have a curved underbelly and the male will have a straight underbelly. These are popular among the shrimp hob
