Widow's mites are the coins referred to by Jesus in the famous Bible story written in the Book of Mark 12:41-44. These were the lowest denomination coin in circulation in the Holy Lands during the time of Christ with a value of 1/400th of a silver shekel. Since they were of such low monetary value, little care was taken in their minting. Designs are usually off-center on one or both sides and coins are typically well worn. The pendant is about the size of a dime.
