This book is a collection of verses written by Vadim Levin (born 1933), a well-known children's poet. The illustrations in the book were created by Ivan Bruni (1920-1995), who was an artist and the son of Lev Bruni, a famous avant-garde painter and graphic artist. Ivan Bruni's mother was the daughter of Konstantin Balmont, a symbolist poet and one of the prominent figures of the Silver Age of Russian Poetry. Ivan Bruni received his education at the Art Academy of Latvia and the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow, where he studied under Vladimir Favorsky.
