Bundle Dyed Cotton and Blockprinted Box Top

This fabric is bundle dyed (natural materials in steam) with many foraged materials. Much color layers the textile but it's so hard to see in a photograph. It's then blockprinted with my hand carved poinsettia flower in ochre yellow. 100% Cotton lawn (sheer and light weight) simple box fit stand out tops.  Inspired by the Central and South American huipil, the design is meant to display the pattern of the fabric.  With my patterns I find it best to design simple shapes that fit many shapes.  The cotton voile sheer fabrics are dyed using different natural dye methods and then blockprinted, each print individually stamped onto the fabric.  Only three of each fabric is created into a top. The natural dyes tend to fade with time, but the ink used is light fast so you see a life to your piece.
