Staunton Army Factory Jacket 1864-1865

Staunton Army Factory Jacket is based on three known surviving originals that are believed to have been produced in the short lived facility. The first jacket is linked to the 31st Virginia Infantry while it was in service in the Army of the Valley. The second being received in Petersburg by a member of the 61st North Carolina Infantry. Finally a third is linked to an Army of Northern Virginia Sharpshooter Battalion who fought at Fort Stedman. All of the jackets share the same patterning, with a three piece body, one piece sleeve, two large belt loops, and two large patch pockets. Two of the examples are extensively machine sewn, with the final being completely handsewn (but identical in patterning).
