I also have added double sided 1/8 tape,  Heavy duty Sewing machine. You can make this without the down needle, but this will make it easier when sewing the binding. You also need heavy duty needles jean or topstitch needles, bring several, breaking needles are quiet easy to do because of all the layers you are sewing. This is a project that a beginner can make.  As long as you can sew a straight 1/4 and 1/8 inch seam you should have no problems.  Everyone needs to have the fabric quilted and the unquilted fabric cut out in the pattern.  Every page of the pattern needs to be read before class.
