
Chinese Polychrome Bulb Pot Jiaqing Reign Mark Late Qing/Republic
An octagonal porcelain bulb pot with scenes of a mother and child in a garden. The faces and scene show so much character and emotion. There is a key fret pattern in blue and a band of prunus flowers in iron red at the mouth, with a line of gilding along the rim. The overall white glaze shows an orange peel bumpiness in the central well. The pot is very heavily-potted. It has short diagonal feet at each corner of the base. The bottoms of the feet are not glazed but the base is. There is a stamped reign mark in Zhuanshu script for the Jiaqing emperor in iron red on the center of the base. MEASUREMENTS 8” (20.3 cm) long x 6 ½” (16.5 cm) wide x 2 5/8” (6.7 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 15.8 oz (895 g) CONDITION There are no breaks, cracks or chips. There is wear to the gilding and blue key fret along the mouth. There are kiln flaws, such as black spots, pin hole reserves and grit on the feet edges. The paintings are still bright and complete.
