A very colorful Chinese cloisonné and champleve censer with lion masks on the side handles and on the legs. The copper body and bottom have been embellished with brightly colored cloisonne and champlevé. Brass highlights the lion masks and the body. The matching lid fits tightly and has tooled designs in brass of bats in clouds with a ruyi-shaped cloisonné inset at the top. The mouth has a brass band with a key fret design. The censer is unmarked and has no labels. MEASUREMENTS 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) wide x 4 ¼” (10.8 cm) diameter x 7” (17.8 cm) tall. Weighs 11.4 oz (325 g) CONDITION The lid is missing the finial and there is a dent and enamel loss where the finial was. The censer body has no dents, cracks, or breaks. There is a tiny enamel chip on a black ruyi head on the shoulder and an enamel miss on the shoulder on the brown band. The colors are still bright and fresh.
