Similar in body form to another close relative, the Betta fish, they have long, flowing fins and blunt heads with an upward facing mouth. Their bodies are striped, alternating between orange and turquoise.  They require plenty of swimming space and a tank with a tight fitting lid to prevent jumping. A territorial fish, they will claim an area of the aquarium and will fiercely defend it against any invaders. As such, they should only be kept with similar sized, other semi-aggressive fish.
