New York, 1776, 1777, Campaign Headquarters, Blaskowitz, Revolutionary War Map

Undoubtedly one of the most important maps produced during the Revolutionary War era, and the most detailed one depicting the New York Campaign is the Campaign Headquarters Map of the British Army in New York in 1776. The map was hand-drawn in pen-and-ink and watercolor by Charles Blaskowitz and was based on his own original surveys. This highly-detailed and strikingly beautiful manuscript plan of New York and surrounding areas, combines an enormous amount of topographical information with events, locations and movements of American, British and Hessian forces in the New York and Philadelphia theater. The large-scale plan depicts the Battle of Long Island and everything following it up to the end of 1776. It features inset maps of the Battle of White Plains and A Plan of Brunswick in New Jersey, as well as very detailed ‘Explanation’ and ‘References to the Plan’.
