Hand-painted collectible baseball card The Beastie Boys are famous for name droppin' in their lyrics. They shouted out pop culture, giving props to influential musicians, movie stars, and athletes... including many hometown heroes like the New York Knicks. A couple of the most memorable come off Paul's Boutique (1989), like AD-Rock rhyming about Dick Butkus on Get On the Mic: "You say 'Fuck that,' yo homes fuck this. I'm the King Ad-Whammy, you're Dick Butkus" Or all three (MCA, Mike D & Ad-Rock) swingin' some Phil Rizzuto on What Comes Around: "Bum cheese on rye with ham and prosciutto. Got more louie than Philip Rizzuto" However, my all-time favorite name drop is from Sure Shot on Ill Communication (1994). The remixed flute intro was obscure at the time, but iconic today... and about 1 minute into the song, Mike D busts out with:  "I got more action than my man John Woo, and I got mad hits like I was Rod Carew"
