.Handmade labels on recycled vinyl During the 1988 season, Billy Ripken randomly wrote Fuck Face on the bottom of his BP bat with a Sharpie... so he could quickly find it on the rack among all the other bats. Little did he know it would end up on a baseball card. The production team for '89 Fleer overlooked it, and a PR disaster was created. Boxes were flying off the shelves and Fleer had to fix it fast, which led to a number of variations that also became collectables: they double printed it... blurred it out... scribbled it out in white... scribbled it out in black... and finally just started boxing it out. Both sides of this album are decorated with a pattern of variations used to censor this card, made with layered vinyl, while the A-side also features a cut from a vintage Ripken error.
