2022 30” x 30” Mixed Media on Curry-Dyed Canvas “We Work on the Other Side of Time” is a quote from renowned jazz musician, the late Sun Ra in his afro- futurist film “Space is the Place”. In my work I attempt to borrow ideas form past media that i think is worth considering. I interpret the idea of working on the other side of time as not being bound by time. I think that we shouldn’t allow time to stress us out / cause us to worry. We should respect it but at the same time be the master of our own time. This piece somewhat acts as an organic public sign. the figure in the center welcomes you to the Other world where they arent slaves to time.
