This wonderful winter meal can be widely found even in restaurants that do not specialize in Italian cuisine. It is often pronounced 'pasta fazool' or 'Pasta Fazul' in the United States, after its name in the Neapolitan language, pasta e fasule. I named my version Pasta Fagioli and pronounce it in the Neapolitan way in honor of the Italian families who served it to me growing up! All you need to create a wonderful soup is add a can of diced tomatoes to this mix of beans, pasta and seasoning. Use a 14-ounce can if you like it thick, or a 28-ounce can if you like it more liquid.
