This is a double layered valance with burlap and cotton.  The burlap has that burlap smell but over time dissapates. Also note that burlap can have random color threads running through it that got in there during the weaving process, it is normal and expected with burlap.  All valances are 78" wide by whatever length you choose Sizing:As a rule 2 times fullness is the least amount of fullness you would want to get a nice look.
