HISTORY OF THE TOBACCO BURST GIBSON LES PAUL The original 1959 Les Paul standard tobacco burst was purchased by Duane in June of 1971 & used in the final months of his life. The axe nicknamed 'Hot Lanta' is heard on the live recordings from the closing of the Fillmore East concert on June 27, 1971, some of which was released on the deluxe edition of the band's Eat A Peach LP. Duane also played it on the Live from A&R Studios in New York, August 26, 1971, a radio broadcast
