"Shabbat Kodesh" is an Original Painting that portrays the Shabbat Candle Lighting Blessing handwritten by Kalman Safrut. It beautifully represents the transition from the week into the Sabbath. When lighting the Shabbat candles every Friday at sundown, we recite a blessing declaring the beginning of the 7th day, the day of rest. This painting is a collaboration piece with the well-known Jerusalem scribe artist, Kalman Gavriel Delmoor, also known as "The Jerusalem Scribe" on Instagram, or "Kalman Safrut" on Facebook. We have collaborated on a few unique pieces together, and have some others in the making. Around the written text you will find sparks of flames, a kiddush cup that is to be filled with wine, and long braided challah. I painted with watercolor paint and vibrant water-based Peruvian pigments brought back from Peru by a dear friend.
