Plate 285 Passenger Pigeon, Original Audubon Octavo 1840 First Edition

This print has never been cleaned or restored.  Being over 170 years old it demonstrates characteristics commonly associated with its age and usage, such as finger smudges (spoiling) along the margins and the natural discoloring of the paper (toning).  There are a few blemishes or age spots (foxing).  As an indication of these characteristics for this print please refer to the photos. The edge that was attached to the book is untrimmed and has retained some of its glue binding - see photo.  The paper is in great condition with few noticeable marks or spots and faint text offset.  Colors are fresh and vibrant.  Overall, I believe that this print is in very fine to excellent condition.
