Arrowwood Viburnum (Viburnum dentatum)

Renowned horticulturist Dr. Michael Dirr once said, “a garden without a viburnum is akin to life without music or art.” Viburnums do not get the credit they deserve: wonderful large white spring blooms, cold hardy, full leafy form, what is not to love? It attracts gamebirds, songbirds, small mammals, Eastern Bluebird, Northern Flicker, Gray Catbird, and American Robin. Multiple, erect-arching stems in a loose, round habit. White, flat-topped flower clusters are followed by dark blue berries. Lustrous, dark-green foliage turns yellow to wine-red in fall.
