Bwa Small Elephant Mask

Bwa live in Mali and Burkina Faso. Their masks are often two tone - white and earth or brown. The unmistakeable patterns are often abstract and geometrical. They convey specific messages for the members of the tribe.  Often masks resemble animal spirits that were encountered by the ancestors This "maskette" is a totem reminder of larger masks.
