Peeking Through the Ice

This painting is an abstract work that is reminiscent of an ice-covered lake. It was inspired by memories of a neighborhood pond where I loved ice skating as a child. I love the transparency, body, and luminosity that the cold wax adds to the oil paint. Various textures can easily be embedded into the paint and multiple layers can be added without waiting for the oil paint to dry.
