Eastern Mediterranean, ca 1st to 3rd Century AD An unusually large free blown glass vessel having a long cylindrical chamber with slight bulge in the center and wide, flat, rolled lip, and pointed base. A pale yellowish color with areas of iridescence. Size: 18-7/8 inches (48cm) length! + custom mount. Intact, very good condition. Nice example. Ex D.K. a NY collection acq 2000s. For similar examples see: Yael Israeli, Dan Barag and Na’ama Brosh, Ancient Glass in the Israel Museum; The Eliahu Dobkin Collection and Other gifts, 2003, p. 291, no. 386. This is the largest intact glass vessel I have ever seen or had!
